Qualifications & SkillsTo excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential responsibility effectively. The following qualifications are required:Proven knowledge and experience in one or more of the following fields: electrical engineering, avionics, experimental aircraft, and/or launch vehicle integration. Hands-on experience in integrating electrical power systems for launch vehicles or aircraft. Expertise in creating shop work instructions, including wiring diagrams and technical drawings. Strong problem-solving skills to troubleshoot electrical and avionics ground test issues during flight operations. Excellent communication skills to provide regular updates to supervisors and support documentation processes. Willingness to travel as required to support departmental needs.

Stratolaunch supplies flight data to validate system performance and accelerate technology deployment, especially for national security applications.

Role overview

The Avionics Engineering Technician (Levels I, II, or Senior) works on the design, integration, testing, and maintenance of electrical and avionics systems for the Talon-A hypersonic vehicle. This position is located in Mojave, CA.

Key responsibilities

  • Create shop definitions, including technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and work instructions
  • Coordinate between engineering and shop floor teams to manage installation and modification of aircraft subsystems
  • Assist with integrating and testing avionics and electrical systems
  • Review and evaluate technical data related to aerospace systems
  • Support maintenance and troubleshooting of vehicle avionics

Requirements

  • Experience with aerospace development and systems integration
  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, and wiring diagrams
  • Background in electrical and avionics systems, preferably within aerospace
  • Strong communication skills for effective collaboration between engineering and shop teams
