About the job

About Zipline

Are you ready to make a significant impact? At Zipline, we harness the power of drones to deliver essential and life-saving medical supplies to hospitals across various countries, reaching millions of people. Our mission is clear: to ensure that every person on Earth has immediate access to vital medical resources. Join us in transforming this ambition into reality for billions.

About You and the Role

If you have a passion for analyzing raw data from GNSS receivers and integrating it with IMU, camera, and ground-station data into a resilient state estimator, this position is an excellent fit for you to showcase your expertise and creativity.

Our vehicles operate globally, requiring reliability across all weather conditions and resilience against sensor failures. We are developing a system capable of navigating diverse geographic environments without relying on high-definition maps. Our commitment is to enhance our systems continuously, ensuring that we never face the same issue twice.

You will be challenged to expand your skills and experiment with innovative filtering and measurement techniques. Your role will involve designing systems to collect data from every mission, allowing us to verify performance and troubleshoot effectively.

What You'll Do

  • Maximize the potential of our GNSS hardware by integrating data from our ground station network, while also creating resilient systems that maintain accuracy during extended communication outages.
  • Develop systems to manage intermittent GNSS availability, enabling our vehicles to utilize both GNSS and visual data while addressing failures in either at any moment.
  • Conduct trade studies to evaluate the impact of new sensors or processing methods on vehicle performance and reliability.
  • Assess system performance through simulations and real-world vehicle data to identify and improve underperforming components.
