Role Overview:
The Audio Programmer, reporting to the Group Technical Director, will engage in tool development and technical system design for the audio tools and technology department at PlayStation Studios. This role encompasses game code, middleware, and plugin development, as well as offline tool creation, collaborating closely with diverse teams including R&D, platform, game teams, and QA across the globe.
Your Responsibilities:
- Design and develop audio tools for the sound design and music teams.
- Implement automated build systems through process tools.
- Create audio processing plugins for audio engines.
- Integrate game systems with the audio engine.
- Connect game system authoring tools to sound design tools.
- Develop complex new features for the audio engine.
- Plan, document, and implement audio systems in collaboration with the audio programming team.
- Support sound design and music production teams with tooling requests and game debugging.
- Ensure developed code runs efficiently and is free of bugs.
- Debug code to ensure readiness for release.
- Provide packaged releases of audio systems.
- Oversee the overall audio technology delivery on a shipping game title.
- Update and maintain audio middleware.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years of production experience with at least one shipped title on console or PC.
- A strong passion for audio and video games.
- Proficient in programming languages relevant to audio development.
- Experience with audio engines and middleware.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
