Are you ready to challenge the boundaries of what’s achievable?We are seeking the following qualifications:A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering, Environmental Sciences, or a related field. A professional chartered membership with CIWEM or ICE. Extensive experience in leading teams for the production of flood risk assessments and/or flood risk activity permits. A strong project management background, adhering to the NEC suite of contracts. Familiarity with hydraulic modelling as a basis for flood risk assessments/activity permits. Experience with FCERM appraisal, water cycle studies, and water framework directive assessments is advantageous but not essential. You should also be self-motivated, capable of working independently when necessary, with a strong commitment to your work, a willingness to learn, and a desire to thrive in a dynamic, deadline-driven environment.

We invite you to join our innovative and multidisciplinary Water Team as an Associate Flood Risk Consultant, focusing on Regulations and Development. In this role, you will take the lead in developing and managing flood risk consent documentation for our esteemed clients. You will be part of one of our rapidly expanding offices across the UK and benefit from our flexible hybrid working model.

Our team consists of a diverse group of consultants, engineers, technicians, hydrologists, hydraulic modellers, and project managers. We are dedicated to providing growth opportunities, whether that involves a secondment for client-side experience, project management on-site, or tailored training programs to enhance your skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery: Oversee and validate the creation of documents including flood risk assessments, strategic flood risk assessments, flood risk activity permits, Section 19 reports, and water resource chapters of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs).
  • Expertise: Provide leadership in preparing tenders for complex and high-profile projects, such as nationally significant infrastructure initiatives.
  • Collaboration: Foster strong relationships with clients and across technical teams to ensure successful delivery of a wide range of flood risk management projects, including fluvial, coastal, surface water, and drainage.
  • Quality Assurance: Stay informed of legislative changes and guidelines that might impact our services, utilizing AECOM's project management systems to deliver high-quality outputs aligned with project timelines and budgets.
  • Leadership: Mentor team members to support their professional growth.

Become an integral part of our dynamic Water business, comprising around 700 experts across the UK and Ireland. Work alongside leading engineers and consultants to execute a variety of exciting projects, from minor initiatives to major undertakings, from conception to completion.
