Are you ready to push the boundaries of what's achievable?Here’s what we’re looking for:Extensive experience in flood forecasting modelling (Flood Modeller). In-depth knowledge of Environment Agency requirements, including the preparation of flood forecasting models compatible with their Incident Management Forecasting Systems. Demonstrated expertise in applying and calibrating hydrological models for flood forecasting (e.g., Muskingum-Cunge, Probability Distribution Model). Strong analytical abilities, with experience in processing and analyzing hydrometric data, including gauge rating assessments. A Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related field. Proficient GIS skills (QGIS, ArcGIS, and/or MapInfo). Practical experience with scripting (Python, Anaconda, Ruby, or similar) is a plus. You should also be self-driven and capable of working independently when necessary, while also being an effective team player.

We are seeking an Associate Flood Forecasting Modeller to enhance our expanding Water team. In this pivotal role, you will take the lead in delivering real-time flood forecasting projects while contributing to the growth of our services with the Environment Agency and beyond.

Your primary focus will be on flood forecasting, but you will also have the chance to engage in a variety of hydrology and non-real-time modelling projects.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing and reviewing Flood Forecasting Inception Stage Reports, assessing the quality of existing models and hydrometric data.
  • Developing, calibrating, and validating flood forecasting models (e.g., PDM, Flood Modeller).
  • Conducting non-real-time modelling and hydrological analysis utilizing tools such as Flood Modeller, ICM, HEC-RAS, MIKE 11, and FEH hydrological methods.
  • Creating and reviewing comprehensive technical reports that document model construction and associated uncertainties.
  • Leading and contributing to tenders for key clients.
  • Mentoring and supporting team members in their professional growth.
  • Establishing strong relationships with clients and cross-disciplinary colleagues.
  • Keeping abreast of pertinent legislation and guidelines related to our services.
  • Employing AECOM’s project management systems to ensure timely and budget-conscious delivery of high-quality outputs.
