Are you ready to challenge the boundaries of what's achievable?Qualifications:Degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, with a solid technical background in infrastructure design and execution for data centre clients. Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) or operating at a chartered level with demonstrable professional standing and leadership. Extensive experience managing the delivery of intricate civil infrastructure projects, preferably within data centres, mission-critical environments, industrial settings, or large-scale developments. In-depth knowledge of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes, with a proven track record in engaging with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, and utility providers. Proven ability to function as Design Lead / Technical Authority within large multidisciplinary teams, ensuring governance, technical assurance, and risk management. Strong communication skills and the ability to foster relationships with clients and stakeholders.

AECOM is on the lookout for an Associate Director in Civil Engineering to lead technical initiatives across various projects for data centre clients. This role encompasses site due diligence, master planning, detailed design, and construction support. Your contributions will be pivotal in fostering business growth, nurturing client relationships, and enhancing AECOM's civil engineering expertise in the data centre market.

In this position, you will be part of a Civil Engineering Business Unit, working collaboratively with ground engineers, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, electrical engineers, process engineers, architects, project managers, environmental specialists, and surveyors both in the UK and internationally, all dedicated to our data centre projects.

As a representative of AECOM in the Data Centres Market Sector, you will play a crucial role across EMEA and within AECOM Europe and beyond. You will apply your civil engineering knowledge to ensure successful project delivery for our major tech clients, emphasizing technical excellence, resilience, and seamless integration across disciplines. This will involve close collaboration with multidisciplinary teams in the UK and globally, reinforcing AECOM's standing in the Hyperscale and Co-location data centre markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver civil engineering technical leadership and design governance for data centre and critical infrastructure projects, ensuring adherence to AECOM standards and regulatory frameworks.
  • Oversee and validate civil engineering designs and specifications, devising practical solutions for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, utility infrastructure, and civil engineering tasks related to data centres.
  • Facilitate coordination among civil engineers and technical specialists engaged in our data centre project portfolio, including ground, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineers, project managers, architects, and environmental consultants across the UK and our global operations.
  • Enhance client engagement, business development, asset evaluations, and strategies for expansion or upgrades while mentoring civil engineers to bolster AECOM's technical proficiency within the Data Centres sector.
