Are you ready to challenge the limits of engineering?Requirements:A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, demonstrating a solid technical foundation in infrastructure design and delivery for data centre clients. Chartered Engineer status (CEng MICE or equivalent) or operating at chartered level with substantial evidence of professional standing and leadership capabilities. Proven track record in leading the delivery of complex civil infrastructure projects, preferably within data centres, mission-critical environments, industrial sectors, or large-scale developments. In-depth understanding of planning, highways, drainage, and utility approval processes, with experience interfacing directly with Local Authorities, statutory bodies, and utility companies. Demonstrated ability to function as a Design Lead / Technical Authority within large multidisciplinary teams, ensuring governance, technical assurance, and risk management. Exceptional communication and leadership skills with a strong emphasis on collaborative teamwork.

AECOM is on the lookout for an accomplished Associate Director of Civil Engineering to provide expert technical leadership across a diverse range of projects for data centre clients. This role encompasses everything from conducting thorough site assessments and master planning to detailed design and construction support. You will play a pivotal role in driving business growth, fostering client relationships, and enhancing AECOM’s civil engineering expertise within the data centre industry.

In this position, you will collaborate with a dynamic Civil Engineering Business Unit, working alongside ground, structural, mechanical, electrical, process engineers, architects, project managers, environmental specialists, and surveyors, both in the UK and internationally, to support our extensive portfolio of data centre projects.

As a key representative for AECOM in the Data Centres Market Sector, you will champion our initiatives across EMEA and within AECOM Europe, contributing your civil engineering knowledge to the successful execution of projects for leading technology clients. Your work will ensure technical excellence, resilience, and interdisciplinary integration while reinforcing AECOM's standing in the Hyperscale and Co-location data centre market.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Deliver civil engineering technical leadership and design governance for data centre projects, ensuring adherence to AECOM standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee, review, and endorse civil engineering infrastructure designs and specifications, crafting practical solutions for site development, earthworks, drainage, pavements, access, utility infrastructure, and civil engineering tasks linked to data centres.
  • Collaborate with fellow civil engineers and technical specialists to facilitate the successful delivery of our data centre project portfolio, including ground, electrical, mechanical, and structural engineers, project managers, architects, and environmental consultants within the UK and our global network.
  • Engage with clients, support business development initiatives, conduct asset reviews, and devise strategies for expansion or upgrades while mentoring and nurturing civil engineers to bolster AECOM’s technical capabilities in the Data Centres sector.
