PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The Assistant Facilities Manager is not a conventional site-based maintenance role. This position is technical and consultative in nature, crucial for supporting decision-making in installations, lifecycle planning, compliance, and capital projects. We are seeking a candidate with a robust technical background (e.g., engineering or mechanical systems) who thrives on problem-solving, converting technical details into practical guidance, and influencing positive outcomes across a diverse portfolio.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to)
Technical & Advisory Support
- Offer expert advice to Asset Management and Property teams regarding facilities, maintenance strategies, installations, and technical risks.
- Assist in feasibility assessments and technical reviews for refurbishments, upgrades, and new developments.
- Provide guidance on construction methods, building systems, and specification standards to ensure long-term operability and compliance.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Support the Facilities Management Director in ensuring the portfolio adheres to statutory, regulatory, and internal safety standards.
- Help monitor compliance across assets, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.
- Contribute technical insights into fire safety, building safety, and regulatory inspections, collaborating with local teams and external specialists.
Property & Lifecycle Planning
- Assist with lifecycle planning, including planned maintenance, FF&E replacement schedules, and CapEx programs.
- Evaluate asset condition data and maintenance reports to guide investment and prioritization decisions.
- Provide technical input for annual maintenance and renewal planning.
Stakeholder & Supplier Coordination
- Act as a technical liaison between central teams, local operations, and external consultants or contractors.
- Support the review of supplier proposals, scopes of work, and technical documentation.
- Ensure that suppliers and projects align with our strategic goals.
