Role overview
The Assistant Controller will build Arena’s accounting function from the ground up. As the first accounting professional at the company, this person will design systems, controls, and infrastructure to support Arena’s growth. The role reports to the Head of Finance and is foundational in supporting a product trusted by elite AI labs and enterprises.
This position covers all aspects of accounting operations, including daily financial activities, timely month-end closes, and preparation for audits. The Assistant Controller will handle complex enterprise contracts, manage revenue recognition, and develop a cost accounting framework. Collaboration with an external accounting firm is part of the job.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes, ensuring GAAP compliance in financial statements and analyses.
- Manage daily financial operations, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, expense allocations, and balance sheet reconciliations for major enterprise clients.
- Handle revenue recognition, applying ASC 606 to complex enterprise contracts.
- Design and implement scalable financial systems and processes to support rapid growth.
