About the job

The Assistant Bakery Operations Manager (ABOM) is a pivotal leadership role aimed at cultivating the future leaders of Bakery Operations. ABOMs are expected to operate with the same urgency, accuracy, and accountability as a Bakery Operations Manager (BOM), while simultaneously developing the essential leadership skills necessary for independent bakery management.

This position combines hands-on operational excellence with talent development, administrative oversight, and team leadership. ABOMs serve as a vital extension of the BOM and must be prepared to assume complete bakery ownership when required.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Excellence
• Manage all core bakery operations, including inventory rotation, staffing coordination, scheduling support, and administrative checklists.
• Uphold strict adherence to product quality, cleanliness, food safety, and guest experience standards.
• Assist with inventory accuracy, ordering, and shrink control.
• Contribute to schedule creation and labor management to achieve operational objectives.

Team & Talent Development
• Aid in the recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and training processes for new staff members.
• Provide consistent coaching and timely performance feedback.
• Hold team members accountable to established standards while fostering a growth mindset culture.
• Ensure onboarding and training programs meet company standards.

Leadership & Ownership
• Operate bakery independently in the absence of the BOM.
• Exhibit urgency, accountability, and operational discipline.
• Collaborate with BOM and Area leadership to identify and address operational gaps.
• Ensure continuity of operations during leadership transitions or staffing shortages.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE:
• Capable of independently executing all BOM-level administrative and operational tasks.
• Ensure the bakery is fully staffed, trained, and operating at superior standards.
• Foster a strong culture of accountability and consistency.
• Serve as a dependable operational leader in any coverage situation.
• Show clear readiness and potential for advancement to a BOM role.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum of 1 year of leadership experience in restaurant, retail, or hospitality operations.
• Strong operational discipline with keen attention to detail.
• Proven ability to coach and develop hourly team members.
• Comfortable in fast-paced, high-volume environments.
• Capable of performing all bakery roles during peak business periods.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
