Contract Duration: 4 months

Job Overview:

  • The Application Technician will focus on developing innovative applications for Gorilla® Glass by conducting thorough mechanical, chemical, optical, and environmental performance characterizations of both the base Gorilla® Glass and its final product configurations.
  • In the automotive glazing sector, responsibilities will encompass regulatory (safety) testing, mechanical testing, thermal effect assessments, lamination and decoration tests, and optical evaluations, all conducted to meet industry standards and customer expectations.
  • Similarly, the technician will address the testing needs for auto interior applications. The successful candidate will conduct a variety of tests to ensure compliance with customer requirements and facilitate certification in accordance with industry standards, all while adhering to accelerated timelines essential for new product launches.
  • Daily Responsibilities:
  • Operate mechanical testing equipment, chemical, optical measurement systems, and acoustic test benches
  • Collect and compile data manually or electronically for analysis
  • Communicate test results effectively, both in writing and verbally
  • Manage electronic sample orders, maintain sample inventory, and prepare samples for testing
  • Perform maintenance and assessments on testing equipment, tools, and procedures to ensure safety and operational efficiency
  • Create or revise documentation for testing procedures, emphasizing rigor and continuous improvement.

Travel Requirements: Travel is anticipated to be ≤ 20%, involving a combination of domestic and international travel, primarily to East Asia and Europe.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week with flexible working hours from 9 AM to 4 PM.

Required Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with mechanical, chemical, optical measurement, and acoustic testing equipment.
  • Proficiency in computer and data analysis, with experience in Microsoft Excel and Minitab preferred.
  • A strong work ethic with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to collaborate effectively in a team environment.

Desired Skills:

  • Prior testing experience and relevant professional background.
