Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONSA minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in application security or product security roles, including secure code reviews, threat modeling, penetration testing, and application security tooling and automation. Exceptional communication skills to effectively convey technical security requirements and risks in understandable terms. Proven experience in identifying and rectifying web application security vulnerabilities, including those outlined in the OWASP Top 10 and CWE Top 25.Proficiency in at least one scripting language, preferably Python, Ruby, or similar languages.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As an Application Security Engineer at Benchling, you will be an integral part of our dynamic team dedicated to upholding a top-tier security program. We prioritize the delivery of real-world security solutions while embracing automation to add value to our organization. We're searching for engineers who are passionate about safeguarding sensitive data that impacts society.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Integrating and enhancing both external and internal security tools within our development and build environments.

  • Creating streamlined processes to embed security into our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

  • Working collaboratively with engineers to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, thereby minimizing risk.

  • Conducting thorough code reviews of our applications and services.

  • Partnering with our Product Design and Software Engineering teams on security and privacy initiatives, leading security design reviews and threat modeling.

  • Engaging in incident response and vulnerability remediation activities.

  • Formulating secure coding and design practices and providing training to engineering teams.

  • Executing black-box and gray-box penetration testing on our applications and services.
