Qualifications

Required Qualifications:Over 10 years of experience in designing lightweight structures for aircraft, spacecraft, or high-performance vehicles. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field. Proficient in designing and analyzing simple components. Strong knowledge of load paths and laminate design fundamentals. Advanced CAD skills in NX, Solidworks, Catia, or Creo. Experience with the design of:Large bonded structuresSandwich constructionHand laid prepreg carbon fiberMachined metal componentsFamiliarity with the manufacturing processes for composite parts. Understanding of FAA aircraft certification standards for Part 23 aircraft. Experience with Product Data Management (PDM) systems. Self-motivated, collaborative team player, eager to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and development of major structural airframe assemblies from initial design stages to certification and manufacturing ramp-up.
  • Utilize a comprehensive understanding of load paths, design principles, and hand calculations to create robust structural designs.
  • Incorporate design for manufacturing techniques to ensure cost-effective and easily fabricated designs, with preferred experience in composite sandwich construction and adhesive bonding.
  • Establish company standards for CAD models and drawings of composite and metallic components.
  • Collaborate closely with and mentor engineers across design, stress, and materials & processes teams.
  • Provide technical insights on design concepts, balancing risk, cost, and performance.
  • Assist manufacturing teams in validating and verifying that designs meet established requirements and specifications.
