Qualifications

Qualifications:At least 7 years of relevant experience in aerodynamics and performance engineering. Bachelor of Science in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent professional experience. Proficient in conducting aerodynamic analysis utilizing CFD methodologies. Familiarity with CFD tools such as Fun3D, STAR-CCM+, ANSYS Fluent, OpenFOAM, or similar platforms. Experience with both low-speed and high-speed wind tunnel testing, including test planning and data reduction techniques. Solid grasp of aerodynamic theory, particularly in subsonic and transonic flows. Experience in aerodynamic optimization and design trade studies. Capability to support vehicle performance prediction and influence design decision-making. Knowledge of aircraft or vehicle configuration development and integration processes. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills. Familiarity with Part 23 requirements.

Role Overview:

Natilus is on the lookout for a talented Aerodynamics & Performance Engineer to join our dynamic team in San Diego, CA. In this pivotal role, you will engage in Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) analysis and support both low- and high-speed wind tunnel testing. You will play a crucial role in aerodynamic optimization, vehicle design decisions, and performance predictions across the Natilus aircraft lineup.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and execute component and vehicle-level CFD analyses.
  • Prepare and disseminate analysis reports.
  • Plan, support, and execute wind tunnel tests.
  • Assist in aerodynamic design optimization studies.
  • Carry out comparative analyses of predicted aerodynamic performance against experimental and/or flight test data.
  • Lead the development and enhancement of methods and tools.
  • Oversee large, complex project initiatives critical to the organization with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a strong foundation in Applied Aerodynamics theory.
  • Demonstrate a robust understanding of Computational Fluid Dynamics and numerical methodologies.
