Position Overview

The Compositing Supervisor is instrumental in steering the compositing efforts of various projects, overseeing the compositing team and ensuring the highest quality of output. Collaborating closely with the Visual Effects Supervisor, CG Supervisor, and Producer, this role entails effective communication, supervision, and delegation of compositing tasks within the team.

This position is both leadership and hands-on, with the supervisor actively involved in compositing tasks while also managing project-specific responsibilities such as tracking shot progress and overall project timelines. The Compositing Supervisor is dedicated to fostering a motivated and enthusiastic team environment, where each compositor has the opportunity to learn, grow, and produce outstanding work.

We are seeking someone who is excited about tackling a diverse range of projects, each with unique challenges, all aiming to uphold the high standards of quality that Framestore is renowned for.

This role operates on a hybrid work model, combining in-office days with remote work. Candidates must be located within a commutable distance to our London office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a diverse team of compositors on various specific projects.

  • Guide and mentor junior, mid-level, and senior talent, ensuring proper shot assignments.

  • Oversee the overall quality of the team’s work.

  • Engage in hands-on compositing of shots and sequences to achieve a polished final product.

  • Collaborate proactively with other VFX departments and support teams.

  • Work closely with the production team to estimate and schedule tasks.

  • Participate in client reviews and lead daily feedback sessions with the compositing team.

  • Provide on-set VFX supervision for 2D projects.

  • Balance the creative and technical elements of each shot and sequence.

  • Tackle complex technical and artistic challenges in compositing.

  • Manage the color pipeline and 2D workflow integration with DI, CG, and DMP.
